An achingly beautiful antique oak frame with incredible sculptural detail, of classic Victorian oak leaves, branches, acorns & their cups constructed from two individual solid oak mounts, the outer frame with a fabulous grain & patina throughout, the inner of breathtaking crisp carving an ultra.

Not just the amazing tone, grain & patina that one would associate with the work of a master framer, but what is so special about this carving is that the background is pitted & the various foliate elements the leaves, bracts & acorns, many with cups empty all have this wonderful light gloss sheen, not varnished, but just with a natural lightness & shimmering smoothness that glint & sparkle all along the beautifully frieze, heavilt patinated & deeply carved into the deeply bevelled sight edging.
