This is a GORGEOUS example of CHARLES P. This chair is Double Signed (Brand under the arm, paper label under seat). Very RARE, ORIGINAL Limbert Tapestry on spring seat!
100% Original Spring Seat is Fully Functional and Very, VERY Comfortable! This is one of the best examples in how comfortable their seats were when they were originally made. Paper label is still under the seat (as shown in photos).Chair came from an antique bungalow style hotel community in Saugatuck Michigan. Beautiful design, with 5 Vertical Back Slats, which provides much more support and style than the average 3 or 4 horizontal. The Chair is SOLID, with no joint wobble, no loose issues.
The rocking is deep and comfortable, the best I've ever felt from a Limbert chair. Additional Condition statements: -4 corner screw driven blocks removed at some point to allow spring seat to sit properly on original slats. These blocks were un-needed and often mistakenly installed by Limberts over top of the seat rail slats. Some scratches, knicks, marks here and there, mostly on the side of the right arm. Much better than consistent with 110+ years of use. Gorgeously refinished, but looks authentic antique fumed red with very natural surface rather than glossy chemical overcoat. Original tapestry has an area on the front and around top that has wore out the threads. Seat is still fully functional and beautiful as is.
