This is a great piece. That was salvaged from a Philadelphia home. It is made of oak and is unpainted.
There are 2 square legs with shelves at the top and flat sawn designs on the faces near the top. A curved shelf sits between the legs and has a small corbel in the center. There is an arched back splash above the shelf. Great arts and crafts / mission style. The back has the original label that is dated 11-14-1920. It measures 63 inches wide, 61 tall, and is 11.75 inches deep. The firebox opening is 47.5 inches wide by 47.75 tall. Overall, it is in good condition. Scratches and dings as it is antique.
The shelf face is veneered and has a couple chips at the ends. The left leg is off and will need to be reset. There are a couple clean breaks that can easily be repaired. Please look at the pictures carefully. In spring and fall we go from Pennsylvania to Atlanta, over to Houston, up to Kansas City and St. Louis then up into Iowa, Chicago and home through Michigan and Ohio. Trips to NYC and New England are as needed. I describe all my items as accurately as possible with descriptions and often pictures of any damage.I try to measure within 1/8 of an inch. My salvage business was born of necessity in 1993 when I started restoring an old Victorian home that had seen better days.
I needed doors, staircase parts, fireplace mantles and more, so I contacted the owners of a few local buildings that were scheduled for demolition. 17 years later this is still my full time job! I salvage whatever I can think can be reused as long as there is room in my warehouse. The warehouse is open for treasure hunting anytime by appointment.Just contact me to schedule a day and time!
