Antique Arts & Crafts / Mission Tiger Oak 6 Chairs. We are proud to offer an extremely nice estate furniture. It is simple, elegant, and classic all rolled into one. Wonderful Arts & Crafts / Mission style set of 6 chairs.
Solid tiger (quarter sawn) oak with outstanding grain pattern was used in the construction. Classic mission / arts & crafts style. Chairs are taller than average. The ladderback chairs have a rounded back for greater comfort.
The seat bottoms can be removed for cleaning or easier re-upholstery. This is an original vintage set which has been completely professionally restored.
The refinishing was done by hand stripping and hand sanding. The stain was an oil base stain this puts moisture back into the wood but requires more additional drying time than solvent based stains. Next a series of sealers and lacquers were applied with hand sanding between the layers. The final coat is a durable bar-top lacquer. Re-gluing involved taking each chair completely apart and using a resin glue in the reassembly process.Seat bottoms were redone and re-upholstered. You can see the many years of honest wear and use that occurred before restoration. However, we chose to leave these details that are part of the character that makes antiques special. Height is about 39 5/8 inch. Depth is about 19 inch.
Seat height is about 19 inch. It has been previously refinished. If there was any damage, it was professionally repaired.With the restoration of all antiques there is a question of how far to take the work. We believe that the items should still show some of the age characteristics.
