Rare Antique Quarter Sawn Solid White Oak c. 1900 Arts & Crafts Library Atlas. It dates from the early 1900s up to the 1920s and is made in the Arts & Crafts/Mission/Prairie style.

This unit is finished on all 4 sides, with rare and superb old growth, quarter sawn white oak , which exhibits an unrivaled eye-popping, highly figured grain. Each side panel is 1.75 thick. There are NO VENEERS on this cabinet. Please compare to examples of modern reproductions which.

Are constructed of a mix of some oak and high-pressure laminates. This library atlas is an exquisitely and handsomely crafted piece with its original finish and a fabulously developed patina. Any lighter areas seen in the photographs are just reflections. There is no damage nor are there any uneven spots to the finish. The cabinet is in excellent condition, and for the serious oenologist, sommelier or wine lover, a truly unique storage, and display option.

The top resting/ display surface is 3/4 thick and measures 30 1/4 wide (side to side) and 26 deep (front to back); the interior contains 6 sliding shelves. The outside cabinet dimensions measure approximately 28 wide (side to side), 40 high at the front and 43 and 1/4 inches at the rear. The six shelves are 3/4 thick and they are made of what we believe to be birch. Please note however that the front of each shelf is edged with a 3/4" by 5/8" piece of white oak.

A beautiful, thoughtful and expensive detail. The 5 (five) slots in each of the 6 (six) sliding shelves are close to 2.5 inches wide. The shelves are designed to be non-removable and therefore, each shelf can be pulled out without risk of collapse or tipping. Although we have not actually weighed the cabinet, our movers guesstimated an approximate weight of 100 lbs to125 lbs. The cabinet can accommodate 30 standard wine bottles and would be a wonderful addition to any wine room, dining room, kitchen, recreational area or other venues.

It could serve other imaginative and practical functions such as storage for shirts or bathroom towels. Without a doubt, it will be an admired conversational piece whatever the chosen use and wherever it is placed. Please study all of the photographs carefully. Questions will be answered to the best of our ability in a timely manner. Potential buyers should use all photographs as an addition to and extension of the written item description.
